Nursing over the last 44 years, since Oct 1963 has left her with an inheritance of experiential knowledge ranging from basic nursing care to the present day objective educational based nursing practices. Even though over most of her career she has had experience in dealing with people living with the problems associated with the ageing process. Over the last 18 years she has specialised and become proficient in EMI care, her knowledge of physical illness is extensive and her ability to put this knowledge into nursing care practice is unmeasured. She has worked in the National Health Service Trust as hospital co-ordinator and a Senior Nurse Manager.
Her responsibility in this employment, as it was in her last employment includes:
- Marketing
- Staff Management
- Systems Implementation
- Care Plan implementation with internal clinical audit
- Internal auditing
Maintaining standards by clinical audit, is one of the most demanding and efficient criteria in the care of elderly people she has made auditing one of her specialities.

Mrs Blackburne is a Registered General Nurse which is an essential qualification for fit person registration under the Care Standards Act 2000 and from the 1st April, 2004 for the Commission for Social Care Inspection fit person criteria to manage a care centre. She has also attained her NVQ 4 Managers award and ASET Certificate in Dementia Care.

Staff

The Home employs 5 Full Time Trained Staff and 2 Part Time Trained Staff:
All seven staff have a minimum of a Registered General Nurse Qualification or Registered Mental Health Nursing Qualification and all hold ASET Certificate in Dementia Care. The Home employs 1 Full Time Care Supervisor, 2 Full Time Senior Care Assistants, 11 Full Time Care Assistants, 13 Part Time Care Assistants and 3 bank staff:
1 Part Time (27 hours) Activity co-ordinator; 2 Cooks and 2 Kitchen Staff; 1 Office Support Staff; 2 Full time Housekeepers and 2 Part time Housekeepers. 1 Full time and 1 Part time Laundry staff. 1 full time and 1 Part time Maintenance staff.
The Home staff are selected for their qualities of reliability, integrity, skill, friendliness and professionalism. they are carefully screened and references are always checked thoroughly. The homes' induction follows the Mulberry Induction Foundation and Training programmes. During induction all staff are trained in-house by experienced qualified senior staff in the following critical subjects:
